Australian Outback Travel Guide

Flights to Australia

Many International Airlines fly into Australia from all around the world. The majority of airlines that fly into Australia have flights directly into Sydney, Australia's largest city, followed by Melbourne and Brisbane. You will also find flights into other cities, but there aren't as many options available.

Generally with flights the earlier you book the cheaper they will be. Australia is a long way from most destinations so make sure you wear some comfortable clothing on the flight and bring a good book to read.

The peak periods in Australia are around the Christmas break and into January, followed by the school holidays. Plan around where you will be spending your time as if you are going to holiday in the West Coast of Australia, then it is probably best to fly into Perth rather than the Eastern States. The weather is also a major factor as it can be extremely hot and dry in the outback over the summer period, along with being extremely wet, humid and hot in the Northern parts of Australia.

Qantas is Australia's national carrier and will offer direct links to other distinations throughout Australia once you arrive. They are also a member of the Oneworld Global Alliance, giving you access to holiday packages from many airlines. They probably arent the cheapest option to fly to Australia however as there are many budget airlines now available.
