Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is located 440 kms South West of Alice Springs. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is located within the National Park, and is undoubtedly recognised as one of Australia's most distinguishable natural icons. Also found within the park is Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), and are a must see if you are visiting Uluru.
There is a fee payable on entering the park, and you can purchase either a 3 day pass or an annual pass. See the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park website for details.
At the time of writing this, you can fly directly into the Ayers Rock Airport with Qantas from Perth, Sydney and Cairns, and into Alice Springs from all of the major cities. Car hire is available from both airports.

If you are going to stay within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, then the Voyagers Ayers Rock Resort offers a large range of accommodation types, from camping, to hotel and apartment style accommodation, up to luxury accommodation at the eco-sensitive and romantic Longitude 131°. Voyagers Ayers Rock Resort also offer a number of tour options, and if you have a long day exploring, then you can relax with their different spa options.
If you want to head out for the evening, Voyagers Ayers Rock Resort has a number of restaurants and bars for you to choose from, plus there is a large general store. They also have a Desert Awakenings tour where you can eat a good Aussie breakfast while watching the sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). The must do dining experience however is the Sounds of Silence dinner. Watch the sunset while eating canapes, then enjoy a BBQ buffet while a guide points out the stars which you can view through telescopes.
Curtain Springs Wayside Inn & Cattle Station
If you are on more of a budget, then outside of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is the 1 million acre Curtain Springs Wayside Inn & Cattle Station. Curtain Springs is approximately 100 kms from Uluru, 220 kms from Kings Canyon, and 360 kms from Alice Springs. They have a number of room types available, powered sites, and un-powered sites (which are free). There is also a convenience store, fuel, a licensed restaurant and bar. Curtain Springs also has a range of tours availalbe.
