It borders to the West by Western Australia, to the north by the Northern Territory, to the North-East by Queensland, to the East by New South Wales and Victoria, and along the South by the Great Australian Bight and the Southern Ocean.
There are many areas to explore the Outback within South Australia. Flinders Ranges is just up the road from Adelaide, you can try Coober Pedy to see if you can find some Opal or try living underground for a couple of days, you can take a drive up the Birdsville or Oodnadatta Tracks, or venture out West towards the Eyre Peninsula and the Nullarbor.
